Adding users

Creating users is a right reserved for system administrators.

There are three possibilities to create users' accounts in Elium:

  • manual creation (one user or several users simultaneously)
  • just-in-time creation (at authentication)
  • creation and management by means of automatic synchronization (SCIM protocol)

Manual creation

If you want to write a personal invitation and manage specific affiliations per user, click on 'Add a user'. If you want to invite groups of users with the same affiliations, click on 'Add several users'.

  1. Go to the administration interface, 'Users' tab.

  1. Add an email address (that will also be used as login by default).
  2. Fill in the required fields.
  3. Generate the invitation immediately or send it later.
  4. Define a language for the user's interface or have the system determine it automatically.
  5. Define the system role of the user.
  6. Specify to which spaces the user has to be affiliated.

Adding several users

  1. Go to the administration interface, 'Users' tab.

  1. Upload a CSV file (see below).
  2. Or paste a list of email addresses (one per line).
  3. Generate the invitation immediately or send it later.
  4. Define a language for the user's interface or have the system determine it automatically.
  5. Define the system role of the user.
  6. Specify to which spaces the user has to be affiliated.

Importing users from a CSV file

In case of importing users from a list in CSV format, you have the possibility of making a very advanced mapping of the profile fields. Everything will depend on the number of columns in your CSV file. One single field is required, the email address.

When you import your file, the system generates a line for mapping for each identified column. The scroll menu allows you to assign the details in this column to a field of your choice. For greater efficiency we therefore advise you to use the first line of your CSV table as the wording of the corresponding field. For the rest nothing changes: you can define the language, affiliations, role, status.

Just-in-time creation

In this way users are created on the fly from their connection to the platform, if they meet a series of settings linked with your SSO.

Creation and management by means of automatic synchronization (SCIM protocol)

In this case access management is totally synchronized: users' accounts are created automatically, the profile details (such as position) are automatically updated, and when a user leaves the organization, his/her account is automatically deactivated. See the dedicated FAQ for more information.
